| Eye care service unit functions in the central office in Colombo and mobile eye camp unit service are rendered through out the Island periodically by qualified optometrists and ophthalmologist. Free issue of spectacles are affected for needy low vision persons. Reading facilities for low vision persons are provided in the central office in Colombo. Low vision optical and non optical aids (reading/viewing magnification devices) are provided in the central office. A project expansion is contemplated for low vision persons in collaboration with eye clinics conducted by the three main eye hospital clinics under the administration of The Ministry of Health of the government of Sri Lanka which has launched the “World Health Organization Vision 2020 programme”. Low vision persons needing further assistance are referred to this organization by the government eye hospital. The needy vision impaired persons are assisted financially for restoration of sight |
